We actively engage and support them in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIn partnership with adults, young people take part in fun indoor and outdoor activities. They learn by doing, sharing in spiritual reflection and taking responsibility. They make choices, try new and challenging activities, and live their Scout Promise. All of this is underpinned by our Scout values.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EScouts\u2019 Trustees have a duty to report on our public benefit in this Annual Report. We\u2019ve assessed our aims, activities, and charitable objectives, which are to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full potential as individuals, as responsible citizens, and as members of their local, national and international communities.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWe believe we\u2019ve met the Charity Commission\u2019s public benefit criteria for both the advancement of education, and the advancement of citizenship and community development. Scouts follows two key principles set by the Commission with regard to public benefit:\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Ch3\u003E1. Identifiable benefit\u003C/h3\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThe way we help young people in their personal development and empower them to make a positive contribution to society. This benefit is directly linked to the purpose of Scouts.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Ch3\u003E2. Public benefit\u003C/h3\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EScouts is a national movement. We\u2019re open to all young people aged 4\u201324 and adult volunteers who are willing to make the Scout Promise. We help young people step up, speak up and dream big. Most importantly, we help them gain the skills they need to succeed in life.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWe\u2019re proud that all young people, particularly those in areas of deprivation, can benefit from our programme and aren\u2019t constrained by their ability to pay the subscription. Locally, there are arrangements to waive subscriptions and other costs for those who face financial hardship. We give support nationally to help Groups in lower income areas. The benefits of Scouts are further demonstrated throughout this report.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Ch3\u003EOur vision for the future\u003C/h3\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWe\u2019re approaching the end of our 2018\u20132025 Skills for Life strategy. By this time, we committed to providing more young people with skills for life, supported by the amazing volunteers who deliver our inspiring programme. We said Scouts will grow, in a more inclusive way, shaped by young people, so we can make a bigger impact in our communities.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWe\u2019re thrilled this vision has been realised through the exceptional dedication and support of our volunteer teams. We\u2019re now concluding our Skills for Life strategy. You\u2019ll find details of its achievements in this report.
