From a first experience of being afloat in a canoe to crewing a yacht they provide valuable experiences, lessons and memories for all of those involved.\u00A0\u00A0 Access to waterborne activities is often only possible due to the commitment of adult volunteers who not only give their time to lead our weekly programmes, but also take on the time to undertake the required training.\u00A0 Here at Scouts, an adventurous activity permit allows\u00A0volunteers\u00A0to lead this type of activity. It shows the young people and their parents that leaders have the necessary skills and experience to be able to lead those sessions.\u00A0\u00A0 In addition to the time needed to complete the training, many groups also face the challenge of finding the funds complete the training.\u00A0 Often groups from areas of deprivation cannot afford to support those individuals who want to give young people the chance to experience all that being on the water has to offer.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EFunding from Trinity House will allow us to meet the demands from Scout groups to upskill their adult volunteers as well as give more young people access these activities.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ETrinity House is a UK maritime charity and authority, founded in 1514. It provides navigational aids like lighthouses and buoys, ensures maritime safety, and supports seafarers through welfare and education.
