They\u2019d been friends all their lives, and they loved playing together and exploring the countryside.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EEager Beaver liked to jump straight in, which was brilliant when it came to swimming in the river or leaping into piles of leaves. It wasn\u2019t always so good when it came to doing things carefully, like drawing and craft.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EBoaster Beaver thought they knew how to do everything. It was brilliant when it came to being brave and giving things a go, but it wasn\u2019t so great when they were trying something new and they didn\u2019t know how to do it yet.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWait-a-Bit Beaver was quite cautious and careful. It was brilliant when it came to staying safe (and helping keep their friends safe too!), but it wasn\u2019t so good when it came to running races.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EOne day, the Beaver friends decided to go camping together.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Hang on, everyone,\u2019 said Wait-a-Bit Beaver. \u2018Before we go camping, I think we should practise putting up our tent in the garden so we know what to do.\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018I already know how to put up a tent, it\u2019ll be easy for me\u2019 bragged Boaster Beaver, even though they\u2019d never put up a tent before in their life.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Great, let\u2019s get started!\u2019 said Eager Beaver, pulling all of the tent bits out of the bag and spreading them across the garden.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Wait a bit!\u2019 said Wait-a-Bit Beaver. \u2018Let\u2019s do it one thing at a time. Slow and steady wins the race you know,\u2019 they added with a smile. The other two grumbled a bit, but agreed.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018First,\u2019 said Wait-a-Bit, \u2018let\u2019s read the instructions.\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EEager Beaver grabbed the instructions and read quickly, \u2018We\u2019ve got to unfold the tent\u2019.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThe three friends unrolled the tent. \u2018OK, we\u2019ve unrolled the tent. Let\u2019s put it up!\u2019 said Eager Beaver.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Not so fast,\u2019 said Wait-a-Bit. \u2018Let\u2019s check that the ground is nice and flat.\u2019 Eager Beaver and Boaster Beaver looked at each other and shrugged, but they carefully checked for a place where ground was flat and smooth, and spread the tent out on the ground.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Next, we put the poles together,\u2019 read Eager.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018I know how to do that!\u2019 said Boaster Beaver, grabbing the tent poles and twisting and bending them together. Five minutes later, the poles were in a complete muddle and Boaster Beaver was panting and exhausted.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EEager Beaver checked the instructions and read out how to properly attach the poles while Wait-a-Bit carefully slotted the poles together and threaded them through the tent fabric.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Give us a hand, Boaster,\u2019 said Wait-a-Bit, grinning at their friend who was looking rather cross. Once the pair had the poles in place, it was starting to look like a proper tent.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThe three had to work together to slip the outer wall of the tent over the structure. \u2018There seem to be some strings hanging off the tent,\u2019 said Eager Beaver. \u2018I wonder what they\u2019re for?\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018I know\u2019 said Boaster Beaver, \u2018that\u2019s the washing line where you hang up your socks!\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Let\u2019s not worry about that right now,\u2019 said Eager Beaver, crawling inside the tent. \u2018I think the tent is ready.\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Actually,\u2019 said Wait-a-Bit, \u2018those strings are called guy lines and they\u2026\u2019 but just then the wind started to blow and the tent began to lift up into the air with Eager Beaver still inside. \u2018Hold on!\u2019 shouted Wait-a-Bit as Eager Beaver struggled to hold down the sides of the tent.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EEventually, the wind dropped and Eager Beaver crawled out of the tent. \u2018Phew, that was close,\u2019 Eager said. \u2018Why did the tent start to fly up like that?\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Those strings are called guy lines and you have to peg them into the ground to keep the tent upright,\u2019 sighed Wait-a-Bit. \u2018If you\u2019d just waited a bit, you\u2019d have heard me trying to tell you.\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018I knew that,\u2019 boasted Boaster.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018And,\u2019 added Wait-a-Bit, \u2018we need to hammer in tent pegs through those loops at the bottom of the tent to keep it sturdy and upright.\u2019 Eager Beaver grabbed some pegs and huffed and puffed while trying to push the pegs into the hard ground.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWait-a-Bit stood behind Eager. \u2018You might need this.\u2019 Wait-a-Bit said, holding out the mallet.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Give it to me,\u2019 said Boaster Beaver, \u2018I know how to use a mallet to hammer things in.\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018No!\u2019 shouted Eager Beaver and Wait-a-Bit together.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018I think I\u2019ll do the hammering,\u2019 said Wait-a-Bit. \u2018Now who\u2019s going to hold the pegs steady while I hammer them into the ground?\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThis time all three friends worked together to hammer in the pegs and check the tent was ready.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThey all congratulated each other on a job well done.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018I can\u2019t wait to sleep in the tent tonight,\u2019 said Eager Beaver.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Let\u2019s make some hot chocolate to celebrate,\u2019 suggested Wait-a-Bit.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Great idea,\u2019 said Eager Beaver, dashing off in the wrong direction.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018I know how to make hot chocolate,\u2019 said Boaster Beaver. \u2018At least, I think I do.\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWait-a-Bit smiled at their two friends. \u2018I\u2019ve got everything we need to make hot chocolate right here,\u2019 they said, getting out some mugs, \u2018but you\u2019ll just have to\u2026\u2019\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u2018Wait a bit!\u2019 Everyone shouted.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ENow it\u2019s your turn to put up a tent.
