We\u0027ve identified which demographic groups might be underrepresented across the adult membership, youth membership, and staff. And we\u0027ve looked at understanding the barriers and enablers that might hinder or help these demographic groups to thrive in Scouts.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWe\u0027ve conducted this research through a mixed methods approach which included:\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cul\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EQualitative methods\u003C/strong\u003E, such as semi-structured interviews and facilitated workshops with staff, young people, and volunteers. This helps us to can gain in-depth insights from the perspectives and experiences of people across the movement.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESecondary research\u003C/strong\u003E into past research that the Scout Association has commissioned, external research and approaches used by other organisations to help us understand, benchmarks, challenges for progression and best practice in this space.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EQuantitative approaches\u003C/strong\u003E to analyse past and current data relating to EDI in the movement.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003C/ul\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAs always, we\u0027ve been led by data and spoken to a range of people to allow for as unbiased a view as possible to help us understand the needs of staff, young people, and volunteers.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ESince then, we\u0027ve made strides in updating resources for volunteers to help\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/equity-diversity-and-inclusion/supporting-people-with-additional-needs/\u0022\u003Esupporting members with additional needs\u003C/a\u003E, and providing information on \u003Ca href=\u0022https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/equity-diversity-and-inclusion/lgbtqplus/\u0022\u003ELGBTQ\u002B inclusion\u003C/a\u003E.
