However, they might not know as much about their new tasks and team.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ETeam Leaders (or Group Lead Volunteer for teams in a Group) should arrange a conversation with all volunteers who join their team, even if they have been involved with Scouts for a while.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThis is to help the volunteer feel welcomed, valued and supported, and it should happen after they\u2019ve visited their team, so the conversation feels more relevant.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ESome examples of when you should have this conversation are:\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cul\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EA Section Team Member is joining a Trustee Board\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EA Section Team Leader is joining the District Programme Team\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EA Programme Team Member is moving to the Volunteering Development Team\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EA volunteer is moving to a different Group, District, or County even if they take on an equivalent role\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003C/ul\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAn accompanying adult can also attend, if the new volunteer would like additional support (for example for help with understanding, additional needs or anxiety).\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThere\u2019s no need for another Welcome Conversation if the volunteer has already had one without a break of more than 30 days in their volunteering.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIf they are re-joining after a break from Scouts of 180 days or more, they\u2019ll need to re-do their Growing Roots learning, even if they\u2019ve previously completed learning.\u202F\u0026nbsp;\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EScouts.org.uk shows what learning they\u2019ll need to complete, but if this doesn\u0027t look right, \u003Ca together and where to find support.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIn this conversation you should talk about:\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cul\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EWhat they already know about Scouts and their new role or team, so you can fill in the gaps.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EAny access needs they might need support with.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EWhat their interests are.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EWhat tasks they\u2019d like to do.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EWhat their availability is.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EWhat they\u0027ll need to do to complete the joining journey.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EAny other questions they might
