When adults are responsible for young people, they must not drink alcohol.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EDuring Scouts events attended by young people under the age of 18, the following rules apply:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cul\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EUnder 18s must not drink alcohol under any circumstances.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EThere must be the correct ratio of adults responsible for young people at all times.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EIf you are responsible for young people, you must not drink alcohol.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EIf you are not directly responsible for young people and you do drink alcohol, you must still follow the Safeguarding Code of Conduct for Adults (\u003Ca href=\u0022https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/staying-safe-and-safeguarding/safe-scouting-cards/young-people-first-yellow-card/\u0022 title=\u0022Yellow Card\u0022\u003EYellow Card\u003C/a\u003E).\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EIf you are drinking when \u2018off duty\u2019, you should consider how alcohol may affect your ability to carry out your Scouts duties when back on duty.\u00A0\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EYoung people must know who is responsible for them at all times.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003C/ul\u003E","gtmId":"","gtmClass":""},{"gridType":"RichTextBlock","content":"\u003Ch3\u003ESupport and planning\u003C/h3\u003E\n\u003Cul\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003ECarry out a\u00A0\u003Ca href=\u0022/volunteers/staying-safe-and-safeguarding/risk-assessments/\u0022 title=\u0022Risk assessments\u0022\u003Erisk assessment\u003C/a\u003E, relevant to the size and nature of the event.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EConsider drawing up a code of conduct before events where alcohol will be present.\u003C/li\u003E\n\u003Cli\u003EAt longer events, consider how drinking alcohol might affect someone\u2019s ability to carry out their Scouts duties or participation in activities over time.
